Africans in Guangzhou and the Qing Ming thing
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt about travelling in China over the past couple of years, it’s that no matter how well laid your plans, or how loose your schedule, things will inevitably go wrong at pretty much the first hurdle.
After leaving Hong Kong at 19:00 bus-bound for Guangzhou, we had been hoping to catch the last train of the night from Guangzhou to Wuchang (Wuhan), arriving at 10:45 the following morning. All being well, a day in Wuhan would have seen us ready to catch our second overnight train at 21:09 that night, arriving in Beijing at 07:00 on the morning of April 2nd.
